NORMITA GALATIERRA June 14, 1941 - November 2, 2011 Normita passed away suddenly at Vancouver General Hospital at the age of 70. She was born and raised in Paranaque, Philippines. Normita immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1969 to start a new chapter in her life. She was employed as a garment factory worker and eventually became the owner and sole proprietor of her cake business. She was one of seven children born to the late Roberto and Laura Gabisan and was the beloved wife of Arturo Galatierra for over 30 years. Normita will forever be remembered by her loving daughters Avegail and Angela, son-in-law Rex, treasured grandson Donovan, nieces and nephews, April, Noemee, Andrew, and Mark, loving sisters Telly, Solly, Zeny and baby brother Alex, caring sister-in-law Rosie and brother-in-law Elmer along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know her. Normita loved to go out for walks to enjoy the sights of nature especially on a sunny day, her favourite colour was green. Lamay will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on Thursday, November 10 and Friday, November 11 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Edward's Church, 836 Arlington St. Interment to follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens with a reception at Glen Lawn Funeral Home.
